Broken Pencils
04:12
|
|||
All I have to do
is make a meal for two
broken pencils stuck in glue
Feeling pretty cheap
by the things I need
broken windows and blue jeans
All my aptitude
is laid out flat and blue
and your mother, she knows too
I don't mind
how dare I say I mind
I don't mind
I told you

Stone Fruit
02:23
|

The last time I say you my lightbulb was out
we sat in the half-light hearts caught in our mouth
now I've swallowed mine whole all purple and plain
borrowed and hollowed and shadowed and stained
When I get older my clothes will all fit
I'll fill up my pockets with stones and peach pits
to give to my friends when the going gets rough
heavy with the memory of what it almost was
Take me to the movies
tuck me into be
tell me that you love me
and the world's in my head
if you catch me crying
take me to the sea
leave me on the north shore
it's alright with me
When I get older my clothes will all fit
my friends will all be happy and they won't forget me

Morticulture
02:13
|
|||
I killed all my houseplants from overwatering
not from lack of trying, but to keep them alive
and now they're all just rotting
sitting in their potting soil
and I am feeling sorry
cause once again I've smothered something good
You called me last winter
said I was just another splinter
digging in under your fingernails
The next time you call me dreaming about the moon
I will remember spring is coming soon
It's looking hopeless that the stems and leaves with reappear
so I will try to plant my garden outside next year
I killed all my houseplants from overwatering
not from lack of trying, to keep them alive
though you are probably hoping
that I am prone to overflowing
I am feeling sorry
cause once again you've seen through something good
The next time you call me dreaming about the moon
I will remember that spring is coming soon
It's looking hopeless that the stems and leaves will reappear
so I know I will plant my garden outside next year

The Fix
04:13
|
|||
I'm up at night looking for the fix
but it's not there
I want something to say to it
but it's not there
we sense the weight of silence on the phone line
a body of years beginning to unwind
You spent the morning on my mind
citing details
of past transgressions my concessions
your emails
I'm up at night looking for the fix
but it's not there
I want something to say to it
but it's not there
You've had enough
I've had it too
I've got nothing to say to you

Found

|

Fill me all the way
I've found another place
to go
It's not the same
when you found me
you found me again

Charm You
04:14
|
|||
What could I ever do to charm you?
What could I say so I convey
it's not enough to let me know
you'll go away
maybe you'll go tomorrow
what did I do to charm you?
What did I say: a survey
passe, cliche
By the way, what did you want me to know
before you left home?
I've got time, I've got time
by design I'd dare opine
I've got time but I won't use it properly
In the wake of my worries
for the sake of my stake in stories
I'm a scorpio
